Active vs. Passive Meditation | Is it possible to meditate 24x7?

Just imagine, can you practice passive meditation for 24 hours in today's fast-paced world? So how can you remain in a meditative state every moment? Let's explore the answer to this question.

Our mind has an inherent tendency to associate itself with everything it perceives. When we encounter something beautiful, like a sunrise, we become so absorbed in the experience that we lose track of ourselves. We forget that we are merely observers of the beauty unfolding before us and instead, we fully immerse ourselves in the experience and its impact. This can lead to confusion and cloud our mind since the foundation of our perception becomes distorted.

Meditation is the practice of training our mind to focus and become aware of our thoughts, emotions, and surroundings. However, there are two approaches to meditation: active and passive.

Active meditation is the ultimate goal of our spiritual journey. It involves being in a meditative state even during daily activities such as talking, walking, eating, and working. However, achieving active meditation immediately is quite challenging since our mind tend to wander naturally.

This is where passive meditation comes into play. Passive meditation involves sitting in a relaxed and comfortable posture and following specific techniques, such as focusing on the breath or a sound. These techniques help bring focus to the mind and guide it towards introspection, enabling us to explore our inner selves instead of solely focusing on the external world.

By regularly practicing passive meditation with enthusiasm, we gradually transition into active meditation. As our mind delves deeper into its own depths, it becomes more at ease, and over time, we find ourselves naturally in a meditative state, even while performing mundane tasks. The more we explore our minds, transcending fears and insecurities, the better we become at expressing ourselves in our daily lives. We become more dynamic and creative, and tasks that once seemed difficult or impossible become easier to accomplish.

Eventually, passive meditation becomes unnecessary as the mind surpasses its need. We can abide in deep states of tranquility while doing our daily work. The material and spiritual worlds are no longer incompatible; they merge harmoniously, filling us with joy and enthusiasm.

So, while passive meditation helps us focus our minds and guide them towards introspection, active meditation is the ultimate goal, allowing us to remain in a meditative state at all times.
